Westminster is a large borough of central London with city status.
The city has a population of over 230,000 people and is just north of the river Thames.

Much of London's famous West End is located in Westminster as well as several important parliamentary buildings and landmarks including Buckingham Palace, the Royal Courts of Justice, Whitehall and the Palace of Westminster

Buckingham Palace is one of the most recognisable buildings in the United Kingdom and is the official London residence of Queen Elizabeth II. The palace also host state occasions and is the premier place for royal entertaining.

The Royal Courts of Justice is home to the Court of Appeal of England and Wales. The building also houses the High Court of Justice of England and Wales. The building is built in a spectacular Victorian Gothic style in bright grey stone.

Whitehall is one of the most famous roads in London and runs from Parliament Square towards Charing Cross. A large statue of Charles I is at the Trafalgar Square end of Whitehall.

The Whitehall area is regarded as the main centre of HM Government and many government buildings and departments are located in the area.

The Palace of Westminster dominates the River Thames skyline and is spectacularly illuminated at night. The buildings, also known as the Houses of Parliament, combines the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The world famous Big Ben clock tower is also located at the north east end of the buildings.

Several open spaces and parks are in Westminster City including Hyde Park, Green Park, Regent's Park, St James's Park and Kensington Gardens.

There are a nearly 30 tube stations in the City of Westminster and
10 underground routes are available from these stations. There are also 4 main line train stations including Victoria, Paddington and Charing Cross.
