Richmond, in London, is a town inside the borough of Richmond Upon Thames. Located just eight miles from Charing Cross the town is popular with commuters thanks to its good transport links.

Richmond lies south of the River Thames and has the famous Richmond Bridge in addition to several other outstanding places of beauty.

Richmond Theatre is a fantastic Victorian theatre that has been used in several recent films including The Hours. Professional touring companies now use the theatre with regular plays and musicals are performed in the theatre.

The Rolling Stones played many early gigs at The Station Hotel pub in Richmond. Other bands with connections to Richmond include The Who (who had a studio in the city) while plenty of bands have played at the Eel Pie Island venue.

Richmond has been the home to many notable residents throughout its history including Henry VIII, David and Richard Attenborough, Bamber Gascoigne, Mick Jagger, Jerry Hill, Richard E Grant, Pete Townsend and Richard Ashcroft.

Richmond Park is a large park and woodland that is just one of the many examples of popular accessible open spaces in Richmond. Other fine examples include the Old Deer Park, Terrace Gardens and Kew Gardens.

Richmond has quite a small town centre. Hill Street and George Street are the many focal areas of the town with several small alleyways and roads running off them. Several established shops like House of Fraser and Marks and Spencer have retail spaces in the town as well as many smaller scale units.

Richmond has excellent train links including Richmond Station on the District Line. The North London Line also runs to Staines, Reading, Wimbledon and Weybridge. Other nearby stations include North Sheen Railway Station, Kew Gardens Station and St Margaret's Railway Station.
