Londonderry (often called just Derry) is a large city in Northern Ireland with a population of over 90,000 residents. Londonderry lies on the River Foyle with much of the city split between the river. Two main bridges connect either site. With Londonderry's large population it is actually Northern Irelands second largest city.

Traditionally, the City of Derry has close relations with the neighbouring County Derry. Much of Londonderry's economy was originally built around the textile industry but in recent years many American firms have invested in the city and in digital industries.

Some of the areas main employers include DuPont, NTL, Stream International, Firstsource and Seagate Technology. Locally, Demonds is Northern Ireland biggest privately-owned company and deal in international garment manufacturing.

Derby has several major shopping centres which serve locals and residents from the outer rural areas. The main two shopping centres in Londonderry are the Foyleside Shopping Centre and the Richmond Centre. The former is Northern Ireland's largest shopping centre with nearly fifty shops and ample parking.

The Quayside Shopping Centre and the Lisnagelvin Shopping Centre make up the rest of the main shopping outlets in the county.

Londonderry also is home to Austins, the world's oldest independent department store. Austins have been established since the 1830's and even predates Harrods in London.

By rail, Waterside station serves trains operated by Northern Ireland Railways. Routes go from Londonderry to Belfast with many smaller town and village stops on the way.

Public transport in Northern Ireland is run by Translink (and their subsidiary companies) and provide connections both locally and to nearby towns.

Londonderry has its own airport, the City of Derry Airport that operate an impressive amount of domestic and international flights to a variety of destinations. Dublin, Liverpool, Glasgow and London Stansted are all popular destinations from the airport.
