Horsenden Hill in Ealing has proven to be a treasure trove for artefacts including several Iron Age pots. The hill also provided the grounds for an anti-aircraft battery that defended the nearby factories from attach.

Ealing only became a town in Victorian times and saw the development of several roads being built, schools built and drainage added. Charles Jones is credited with most of the planning and work and also designed Ealing Town Hall.

In August 2001, Ealing was the victim of a bomb explosion near Ealing Broadway Railway Station. The bomb caused damage to several nearby shops and buildings and a number of people suffered minor injuries.

One of Ealing's best known landmarks is Ealing Studios. The studios are notable for being the oldest in the world and have provided the settings for several large scale movies such as Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Notting Hill.

The studio also has a rich history of producing classics such as The Ladykillers and many other "Ealing comedies".

Ealing is also notable for being the settings for Rentaghost, a children's comedy show. Ealing also appears in the novels Goodby, Mr Chips by James Hilton Brave and New World by Aldous Huxley.
