Camden is a London Borough and part of Inner London. Camden has a very diverse ethnic population of over 200,000 people.

Relatively speaking, Camden is quite a new borough. First created in 1965, Camden was formed from the original metropolitan boroughs of Hampstead, St Pancras and Holborn. They were originally known as the County of London.

Geographically, Camden is in the North of London and reaches from Holborn in the north down to Bloomsbury in the south of the city. Located right in the heart of the capital, Camden is neighboured with the City of Westminster, Brent, Barnet, Islington and Haringey.

The Camden Council had been under the control of the Labour Party from the early 1970's but now the Liberal Democrats are the largest party. Camden is split in to several electoral wards because of it's size and large population.

Many cultural and educational buildings are in close proximity to the borough including the British Library, the British Museum and Great Ormond Street Hospital. All are in or around Camden.

University College London and the University of London headquarters are based in the area with a high number of staff and students. Both universities offer a wide range of courses.

Because of its central location, Camden is very close to many amenities parks and attractions including Hampstead Heath, Regent's Park (the eastern park) Camden Market, some parts of Covent Garden, Russell Square, the Shaftsbury Theatre, the Dominon Theatre, the Bloomsbury Theatre, the Freud Museum, the Roundhouse and the BT Tower.

Transport links are superb with King's Cross railway station, St Pancras railway station and Euston station around the borough. These stations are the end stations for the West Coast Main Line, the Midland Main Line and the East Coast Main Line. Recently, Pancras has become the main terminal for Eurostar.
