Sport has long been a popular event in Inverness and the city hosts the City of Inverness Highland Games. Two football clubs are based in the city, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, who play in the Scottish Premier League and Clachnacuddin F.C. who pay in the Highland League.
Inverness is located in the north of Scotland making transport links tricky for some locations. There is a railway station in Inverness that runs to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Perth.In addition, some of these services connect to London and other major United Kingdom locations. The Caledonian Sleeper train runs an occasional direct route to London. Typically, there are 6 services running every week.
Inverness Airport is located approximately 10 miles outside the city and operates flights to several United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland destinations including Edinburgh, Manchester, Dublin, Belfast and London. There are also flights to the north and east Scottish Islands.
