With a population approaching 150,000 people, Dundee is now recognised as the fourth largest city in Scotland. Based on the north bank of the Firth of Tay, Dundee is known as the City of Discovery in recognition to the city's long history of scientific work.

Dundee is conveniently located closely to two popular and prestigious golf club. St Andrews, often known as the "home of golf" is just 14 miles away and Carnoustie is also close by.
Dundee has two popular universities, the University of Dundee and the University of Abertay. The universities are home to around 17,000 students and offer leading biomedical research.
Dundee is home to the Scottish Dance Theatre. The theatre is one of the United Kingdom's premier contemporary dance companies and is based at the Dundee Rep Theatre. Janet Smith, the Artistic Director of the company, has provided significant contributions to the choreographic repertoire of the theatre.
Transport to Dundee by road is mainly via the A90 road. This connects Dundee to the M90 motorway which links the city to Perth to the west and Aberdeen to the north.
The bus service in Dundee is very extensive and operate inside the city and the surrounding areas. The main railway station in Dundee is Dundee Tay Bridge Station but there is a smaller station in the east of the city called Brouty Fettery Station.
Dundee Airport provides commercial flights from Dundee to Birmingham International Airport, Belfast City Airport and London City Airport.
A larger, international airport, is located at Edinburgh (approximately 40 miles south of Dundee).
