The Galway City Museum is a popular amenities in Galway. Since it opened the museum is split in to two main parts, "Fragments of a City" and "On Reflection". The two parts cover everything from the heritage of Galway to information about local artists in recent years. The museum is aimed at both locals and tourists alike.
Galway is becoming a popular student city and is home to the National University of Ireland, Galway. The university has over 15,000 students and is based in the city centre near to the River Corrib.
Galway has excellent transport links. Galway Airport (4 miles east of the main city) operates frequent flights to other parts of Ireland, Britain and some of mainline Europe. Shannon Airport is also in commutable distance which operates wider range flights to Europe and North America.
By road, Galway can be accessed by the N6, N17 and N18 roads that all serve the city. This makes access from Donegal, Cork, Shannon Town and Dublin very convenient. There are also several local bus services and bus routes that travel to nearby towns and airports.
