In addition to the cathedral and castle the town has several art galleries including 'The Collection' that houses over 2 million objects. The Museum of Lincolnshire Life and Waddington Airfield are other popular tourist destinations.

Students in Lincoln have several options for higher education. The Bishop Grosseteste University College is the oldest in the city and the newer University of Lincoln (previously the University of Lincolnshire and Humberside) which has nearly 20,000 students attending.

Transport to Lincoln is diverse. By train, the Lincoln Central Station provides services to Nottingham, Leicester and Sheffield. A direct train to London St Pancras International is soon to be launched and from 2010 the National Express East Coast will provide a two hour service from Lincoln to London Kings Cross.
