Armagh is renowned as the City Of Saint Patrick and the Ecclesiastical Capital or Ireland. Saint Patrick built his first stone and chief church in 445AD on the location of the current Church of Ireland Cathedral. Since then, there has always been a church on this site.

When you visit Armagh (a cathedral city) you will be visiting more than just Ireland's oldest city. You can also explore the capital of Ulster, the burial place of Brian Boru and the Orchard County. The whole area has fascinating history spanning over 6,000 years.

Golf, fishing, walking, hiking, cycling are just some of the activities available to visitors. Armagh has many beautiful county parks, National Trust properties and family attractions.

Armagh is generally thought of as an administrative centre and is the seat for both the Church of Ireland Archbishop of Armagh and the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Armagh.

Although Armagh is relatively small in size it has several buildings of note. The Armagh Observatory and the Armagh Market House (built in 1815) are two prominent examples.

Gaelic Football is the most popular sport in Armagh with the Armagh GAA team ranking in the top 3 teams in Ireland. Armagh also has successful rugby and cricket clubs and the Armagh City Football club play in the Irish League Premier.

If you are planning to visit Armagh it has major road networks to and from Belfast and Dublin. Belfast International Airport is 45 minutes away, Dublin Airport is 70 minutes away and the Port Of Belfast is just 50 minutes away.

The location of Armagh makes it an ideal location for links to the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom, Europe and even the United States of America.
